Agricultural Commissioner and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried is tapping into Florida’s massive Hispanic American and Latino communities with a blast of Spanish-language radio ads.

The move is a strong sign of how much influence Hispanic voters have in the state and the fact that this year’s Democratic candidates are turning their messaging to those communities.

Her ads are aimed at Florida’s wide span of  different Hispanic communities including Afro-Latinos, Colombians, Cubans, Dominicans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans and Venezuelans.

Fried isn’t going solo in the ads either—she’s featuring Latinos from different communities to try and make a connection with those communities.

In one ad, Venezuelan American Luis Atencio says he supports Fried because he believes she’s the best candidate to safeguard democratic principles.

“I come from a country without democracy, and as a new citizen, I support Nikki Fried because she will protect democracy in Florida,” Atencio says.

The gubernatorial candidate’s ads are being aired throughout the Sunshine State in Spanish, heralding Hispanics by saying, “Let’s vote for something new.”

The state’s primary election day is less than one week away and recent polls have Fried four-points ahead of her Democratic primary opponent, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist who formerly served as the state’s Republican governor.

Both Democratic candidates are still behind incumbent Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in nearly all polls.
