Father kills his two children before shooting himself in Miami Lakes Drive

After a violent domestic dispute, a father shot his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son, then proceeded to kill himself.

The initial reports, which came in about  9:30 p.m. in the area of the 6400 block of Miami Lakes Drive suggested the incident was linked to domestic violence. 

"This afternoon, officers responded to the scene of a shooting where a father shot and killed his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son before killing himself. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims," Alfredo Ramirez, Miami-Dade police director, tweeted.

Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said the suspect's wife was in the house, but was not injured. Witnesses said they heard a woman screaming outside the house.

The bodies of the victims were found outside the house. The Miami-Dade police investigation has not revealed the identities of the victims or the causes that led to such a gruesome outcome.
