Fatal accident in Miami leaves two dead and three injured

The driver lost control and crashed into a light pole

An automobile accident that occurred early Sunday morning in Miami left two dead and three injured, of which two are in critical condition.

Police reported that the traffic incident occurred around 3:10 a.m. around West Flagler Street and 48th Avenue.

A red Kia Forte with five occupants was traveling westbound when it lost control and struck a light pole, reported the police.

The forceful impact ejected two of the occupants from the vehicle. Both were treated and pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel, the police report said.

The other three passengers were rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial. Two of them had severe injuries, while the third person did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

The victims were approximately 19 years old and of Honduran origin, according to family members.
