Cuban American influencer and YouTube host Alexander Otaola appeared at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ final rally in Hialeah Monday evening alongside other big Republicans like Sen. Marco Rubio.

A Cuban exile and vocal opponent of communism, Otaola in Spanish implored attendees to vote for DeSantis in the midterm elections.

Rubio blasted national Democrats in his speech, saying, “We are not going to let anyone destroy our state and we are not going to let anyone destroy our country.”

Lieutenant Gov. Jeanette Nunez was also on hand to speak at the event, reports ABC 10.

“Tomorrow we are going to retire Charlie Crist,” she said.

Hola Ota-Ola!, which the human rights activist started in 2017, has a huge following among Cuban Americans. Over the weekend, he led a pro-Republican, anti-communism caravan in Miami.

Otaola gained national fame during the 2020 election season for helping former President Donald Trump make inroads with younger Cuban Americans in the state, resulting in a narrow seven-point in the Democratic stronghold of Miami-Dade County and an easy win in Florida, according to the Miami Herald.

In June, Otaola announced on his show that he planned to run for Miami-Dade County mayor in 2024.

“We are going to get the communists out of Miami,” Otaola said in Spanish, as first reported on the Periodico Cubano site. “If I win I will do everything, absolutely everything so that not a single dollar comes out of this city, this county, to feed the Cuban dictatorship.”

The Cuban actor has been accused by the left of spreading misinformation on his show.
