Authorities of Pasco County, Florida, are warning residents about the presence of an alarming number of sharks off the coast. The authorities say it’s important to be aware of the dangers, both under and above the water, as the summer season approaches.

The county's Aviation Unit caught on camera a large number of sharks swimming near the Anclote Sandbar and Anclote Island earlier this week.

For National Water Safety Month, authorities are giving us the following tips:

-Be aware of your surroundings.
-Learn to swim and swim with a buddy.
-Keep a fully charged phone and first aid kit nearby.
-Never leave children unattended in or near water.

The sharks seen swimming in the video appear to be blacktip sharks, which move offshore during the spring and summer months and can grow to over 6 feet long.

Shark attacks are rare, and deaths from shark attacks worldwide are even rarer.
