Florida authorities arrested two suspects this week after intercepting packages containing 87 pounds of marijuana at a UPS in St. Petersburg, Florida, according to arrest documents released on Saturday

Police found two large boxes containing 87 pounds of “marijuana plant material” on February 14, 2021, at a UPS location near Pinellas Park.

Two suspects were identified through the tracking number provided for the shipments, according to local news outlet WFLA.

Bennie Neely, 41 was arrested on Wednesday and Corey Jovan Brown, 38, was arrested on Friday. The two suspects were charged with the first-degree felony of trafficking cannabis and the third-degree felony of importation of marijuana, according to federal court.

Both suspects have been released on bond.

UPS prohibits the shipment of marijuana under any circumstance, even if it is being used for medicinal purposes or legal under a state’s law, according to the company’s website.

“UPS will not accept shipments containing hemp products from any location that sells marijuana or marijuana products,” the website reads.

“UPS reserves the right to dispose of any shipment containing marijuana, hemp, or hemp products tendered for shipment which shippers are prohibited from shipping, which UPS is not authorized to accept, which UPS states that it will not accept, or which UPS has a right to refuse,” it continues.
