A Florida woman was arrested on Monday and faces involuntary manslaughter charges after her 10-year-old daughter shot and killed a neighbor she was arguing with.

The events occurred on Sunday at 11:49 p.m. at the Jernigan Gardens Apartments residential complex in the 1400 block of Mercy Drive when Lakrisha Isaac, 31, slapped her neighbor Lashun Rodgers, 41, during a Memorial Day barbecue, WFSB reported.

According to police, Rodgers struck back and a fierce fight immediately ensued. Isaac, who is thought to have been drunk, handed a bag containing a gun to her 10-year-old daughter, who allegedly pulled it out and shot Rodgers twice.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead hours later.

Police confirmed that Isaac is charged with counts of involuntary manslaughter, child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and aggravated assault with a firearm. She remains in jail without bail.

The minor was placed in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families while the state prosecutor's office decided whether charges would be filed against her.

Family and friends have said Rodgers was known for giving money to neighborhood children and that her daughter and granddaughter had just undergone open-heart surgery.

They also asked that the 10-year-old girl be arrested.
