French actor Alain Delon requests euthanasia, says goodbye with letter
The French actor of films such as The Leopard, The Fox and The Swimming Pool, asked his son to organize his assisted suicide

Alain Delon has requested euthanasia in Switzerland, the country where he has been living for years, Anthony Delon, the actor's son, told French news outlet RTL. This same media promoted the autobiography of the movie star.
Delon suffers from disabilities caused by two strokes he suffered in 2019. Since then, he has expressed the idea of asking for euthanasia, legalized in the European country where he resides. However, he had never seriously asked for it before.
It is no surprise that his decision to end his life through assisted suicide has caught the world by surprise. In addition to his physical problems, there was an event that advanced Delon's motivation: the death of his wife Nathalie in 2021. This incident seemed to cement the decision to end his life.
After Delon's request to his son was made public, his son shared the farewell letter to his longtime fans.
"I would like to thank all those who have accompanied me over the years and have given me great support, I hope that future actors can find in me an example, not only in the workplace but in everyday life, between victories and defeats. Thank you, Alain Delon," he wrote.
Although the message was not too long, it was very direct and heartfelt. In more than one interview the celebrity has confirmed his approval of euthanasia and the right of any person to die freely.
This is probably the farewell to one of the most beautiful eyes of cinema and also one of the most emblematic actors. Alain Delon is undoubtedly one of the key figures of film, and still is at 86 years old.
