NBA Star Antetokounmpo, a Greek immigrant, at White House event: 'Your dreams pay off'

Professional basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo, MVP of the 2021 NBA Finals, discussed his visit to the White House and meeting with President Biden during an interview with Just the News after the ceremony honoring him and his teammates for their championship. 

"It's amazing. Never thought, you know, we would be here and it's a lot of hard work, you know, your dreams pay off and you enjoy a moment like this," Antetokounmpo, born in Athens, Greece, said at the White House after the ceremony with Biden and the Milwaukee Bucks. 

Antetokounmpo was asked to share some of what Biden told him behind the scenes at the White House. 

"Just keep enjoying, keep working hard, keep enjoying what you do. And a lot of people are going to pull you in every direction and time is the most valuable thing," he said. "Just enjoy what you're doing every single day. That's what he told me."

Biden applauded Antetokounmpo and his brothers, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, who plays for the Bucks, and Kostas Antetokounmpo, who played for the Lakers. 

"What makes it even more special is you won the title with your brother, who is here today. And you join another brother already with a ring. What a hell of a family," Biden said. "Sons living the dream of an immigrant family from Nigeria and then Greece in search of new opportunity. In struggles, they always dreamed."

When asked if he had a message for Biden on immigration, Antetokounmpo replied, "No, I'll stick with basketball."
