Heavy rains caused a mudslide in Colombia that killed at least 14 people and injured 35 others, local authorities said. At least one person has been reported missing.

Colombia’s disaster management authority, the UNGRD had initially reported only seven deaths. However, the number doubled as rescue teams looked through the mud for survivors.

The mayor of the municipality of Pereira, Carlos Maya, said that there are still risks of mudslides in the area and urged people to evacuate.

"We are currently managing the entire evacuation perimeter because we still detect soil instability," Alvaro Arias, government secretary of Risaralda, told Blu Radio.

So far, more than 60 homes have been evacuated from the town of Risaralda.
