A new video of comment recorded on Jan. 6, 2021 was recently revealed depicting an outraged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi admonishing that if then-President Donald Trump marched on the U.S. Capitol, she was going to “punch him out.”
The House Speaker said she was willing to face criminal prosecution for the assault and battery charge should she get the opportunity to take a swing at the 45th president.
The new video was aired by CNN Thursday after the network got a clip from Pelosi’s daughter, documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi.
The video clip depicts the House Speaker in her office watching Trump give his “Save America” speech to supporters on the National Mall in Washington, while pledging to never concede the 2020 election.
He then suggested his supporters to “walk down to the Capitol.”
Pelosi then comments that she feels, “it’s very dangerous what he’s doing,” and then told her aides to tell Trump that, “if he comes here, we’re going to the White House,” which sparked some laughter in the room.
Pelosi then gazed out the window onto the National Mall and expressed concern about the large crowd of Trump’s followers: “They’re marching up.”
In the next frame, Pelosi’s Chief of Staff Terry McCullough told her that the Secret Service convinced Trump not to come to Capitol Hill because they couldn’t shield him from violence inn such a large area, but she retorted, “that could change.”
“If he comes, I’m gonna punch him out,” she said. “I’ve been waiting for this, for trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I’m gonna punch him out, and I’m gonna go to jail and I’m gonna be happy.”
Trump did not join his supporters at the Capitol, but the march soon turned into a dangerous riot that resulted in several hundreds of arrests.
