California man charged with bomb threat to Merriam-Webster over ‘gender identity’ definitions

A California man has been charged with making terroristic threats against longtime dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster over the company’s inclusion of LGBTQ ideology in some of its definitions.

Rossmoor, Calif., resident Jeremy Hanson allegedly told the company in a series of anonymous Internet messages he found it “absolutely sickening” that they had included the concept of “gender identity” in their definitions of “girl” and “woman.”  

“The imbecile who wrote this entry should be hunted down and shot,” Hanson reportedly told the company, also suggesting that the company’s offices should be “shot up and bombed.”

The Justice Department said in a press release that Hanson has been charged with “one count of interstate communication of threats to commit violence,” an offense which may bring with it “a sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.”
