California Gov. Gavin Newsom vows to fashion new anti-gun law after Texas abortion statute
Law will allow “private citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, or sells an assault weapon or ghost gun kit,” he tweets.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is threatening to create new anti-gun legislation in his state modeled after a Texas abortion law that the U.S. Supreme Court has allowed to stay in place during a legal challenge.
“If states can shield their laws from review by federal courts, then CA will use that authority to help protect lives,” Newsom’s office tweeted Saturday.
“We will work to create the ability for private citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, or sells an assault weapon or ghost gun kit or parts in CA,” the tweet added.

In a separate statement, Newsom said he was “outraged” that the justices allowed the Texas law to remain in effect and said he has instructed staff to begin work on a new gun law.
“California will use that authority to protect people’s lives, where Texas used it to put women in harm’s way,” he said.
