San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than 100 pounds of drugs in Murrieta, California last week, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's office.

Agents pulled over an SUV north of the Border Patrol checkpoint in Murrieta at around 11 a.m. on Friday. After searching the vehicle, the agents found 99 pounds of methamphetamine and 27 pounds of cocaine inside the car.

According to authorities, the seized drugs had an estimated street value of $483,000.

The 26-year-old male driver, who has not yet been identified, was turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, according to a Border Patrol spokesman. The vehicle remained in the possession of the U.S. Border Patrol.

“Criminal organizations only focus on profit, regardless of the effect these dangerous drugs have on the community,” said San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Aaron M. Heitke.

“Our Border Patrol agents remain vigilant, day and night, to intercept these poisons and the smugglers who transport them,” he added.

San Diego Border Patrol Sector agents seized around 14,000 pounds of narcotics during Fiscal Year 2022. So far in Fiscal Year 2023, which began in October, Border Patrol agents have seized more than 1,3000 pounds of drugs.
