Nepal rescue teams on Monday recovered the bodies of 21 of 22 passengers aboard a plane that crashed into a Himalayan mountainside, officials said.

Tara Air's Twin Otter turboprop crashed on Sunday during a 20-minute flight traveling from Pokhara to Jomsom after losing contact with an airport tower.

The aircraft, which was carrying 19 passengers and three crew members, went missing from Sunday until Monday, when its wreckage was located in the Sanosware Thasang-2 area in Mustang district, Gandaki province, the New York Post reported.

Ten bodies were taken to Kathmandu by Nepal's emergency services. Ten others remain at the crash site. The recovery of the lifeless body of another victim has already been spotted and rescue attempts are underway, Deo Chandra Lal Karna, spokesman for Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority, told EFE.

The first bodies were found on Monday morning after more than 20 hours of trying to find the wreckage of the plane due to bad weather, which forced to stop the search operations on Sunday night.

Authorities are still searching for the remaining person on the aircraft, said Kathmandu airport spokesman Tek Nat Situala.

The wreckage of the plane was strewn across a slope at an altitude of approximately 14,500 feet. Nepalese authorities established a five-member panel to determine the cause of the crash.
