A TikTok influencer who posted a video of herself hitting a golf ball into the Grand Canyon is facing criminal charges for the act, authorities said.

The golfer with almost 7 million followers on TikTok drew criticism from many after she pulled the stunt and was reported to the Grand Canyon Park Service.

Not only did she send a golf ball into the Grand Canyon near Mather Point, but she also allegedly threw her golf club into the park, the national park said in a statement on Thursday.

“Do we really need to say, ‘don’t hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon?’” the park asked.

“Throwing objects over the rim of the canyon is not only illegal but can also endanger hikers and wildlife who may be below,” said the park.

While the National Park Service did not identify the golfer, the original video seems to have been posted by Katie Sigmond, 20, who is known for her recreational passion for golf.

The video was originally posted on TikTok but has since then been pulled down. Footage of the stunt can still be found on Reddit, where several angry viewers have commented on Sigmond’s actions.

“This idiot’s name is Katie Sigmond. One can only hope they give her a lifetime ban for this. She could have killed someone below the rim,” one commenter said.

“Hikers don’t give a f about influencers and their foolish games,” wrote another.

“Stop calling them influencers. They’re just dumbasses,” another said.

Charges and court appearance dates are pending, the National Park Service said.
