Donald Trump endorses Blake Masters for Arizona GOP Senate primary

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday endorsed venture capitalist Blake Masters in the Arizona Republican primary for U.S. Senate, calling him "a great modern-day thinker."

Trump wrote in a press release that Masters "is one of the most successful businessmen and investors in the Country, having led a multibillion-dollar firm that invests in new technology and many other emerging companies. In addition, he runs a nonprofit foundation that promotes science and innovation."

Masters, the New York Times bestselling author of "Zero to One," will face off against four other Republicans this August in the primary. The most notable challenger is Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who has clashed with Trump over the 2020 election results in the state.

"Blake is Strong on Border Security, in particular, the disastrous Southern Border where people are pouring into the U.S. by the millions, and destroying our Country.  Just two years ago, with the help of the Wall, we had the Strongest Border in the history of our Country, and now we have the weakest—Blake will turn that around quickly," Trump wrote. 

The former president promised that Masters will stand firm in support of the Second Amendment. He will also cut taxes, be tough on crime and support the military, he said.

In the last part of the endorsement, Trump slammed Brnovich as "such a disappointment."

He claimed that the "Arizona State Senate gave him overwhelming evidence of fraud and irregularities, issued a report which was damning, and he did nothing about it.  In other words, all talk and no action!"

Brnovich also did not compel the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to turn information over about the election. Because of this, Trump stated that the attorney general "does not support clean and fair elections, or law and order, and could not properly represent the people of Arizona in the United States Senate."

Trump said that the Masters, on the other hand, "knows that the 'Crime of the Century' took place, he will expose it and also, never let it happen again."
