NFL star quarterback Tom Brady announced on Wednesday that he was retiring “for good” from football, ending his 23-year-long career in the sport.

"My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors -- I could go on forever, there's too many," Brady, 45, said in the video announcing his decision. "Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing. Love you all."

The quarterback originally announced that he would be retiring from football on February 1, 2022. However, he changed his mind a little more than a month later and returned to the sport to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I'd just press record and let you guys know first," Brady said in a video on Twitter. "I won't be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me."

After informing his team about his decision on Wednesday, the Buccaneers tweeted their appreciation to the quarterback in a tweet.

"Tom's impact will be felt within our community for many years to come and we will forever be grateful for those unforgettable memories that he provided during these final seasons of his legendary career," said the Glazer family, which owns the Buccaneers.

Brady has won six Super Bowls while playing with the New England Patriots and one with the Buccaneers. He has also been named NFL MVP three times, Super Bowl MVP five times, and NFL Offensive Player of the Year two times, among other awards. He leads the NFL’s leaderboard for passing yards (89,214) and touchdown passes (649).

Brady will now continue his career as an analyst for Fox Sports, which signed a 10-year $375 million contract with him last year.
