Venezuelan President-elect Edmundo González Urrutia began a tour of Latin America this Saturday with which he intends to complicate the situation for dictator Nicolás Maduro, who hopes to be sworn in on Jan. 10 in Venezuela.
González met this Saturday afternoon with the president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, and gave him the minutes that testify to his victory in the July 28 elections.
“We are with the president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle, to whom we delivered the documentary testimony of the civic feat of Venezuelans on June 28: the minutes that testify to the triumph of change,” the president-elect wrote on his X account.
On the same Saturday, but earlier in the day, González was received by Argentine President Javier Milei, his first stop after being exiled in Spain since September and promising to return to Caracas to take office on January 10 in place of Maduro.

“This meeting reaffirms Argentina's commitment to a free and democratic Venezuela, which can resolve its conflicts under the rule of popular will,” says the official statement that came out after the meeting between the two.
"Argentina will not be complicit in silence in the face of the injustices and abuses of the Maduro regime. Our position is clear: freedom, justice and democracy for all Venezuelans," Milei confirmed.
In addition to Argentina and Uruguay, González Urrutia is also expected to visit Panama, the Dominican Republic and possibly the United States.
González was a candidate for the Venezuelan opposition in the last elections and recognized by several countries as president-elect, based on the voting records, which clearly indicate his victory, with more than 67% of votes in his favor.
For approximately a month, the former ambassador also promised to be in Caracas to assume the presidency, stating that he will be the one who will hold the presidential sash on Jan. 10, although he has not yet revealed how he plans to achieve this goal.
