Hollywood “Scream” queen Melissa Barrera has reportedly been fired from the latest installment of the horror series after a political rant on social media about Israel’s military response to the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks.

Sources reportedly told Deadline the “Scream VII” actress, 33, was fired from the Spyglass Media production due to “her Instagram stories which have been perceived as anti-Semitic.”

The horror film is expected to be released in 2025 after it was delayed due to this year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes.

The Mexican-American actress suddenly started publishing comments about the Middle Eastern conflict in October, writing in one Instagram story, “I too come from a colonized country” beside a Mexican flag icon.

“Palestine WILL be free,” she added in her comments, also adding that “they tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds.”

Barrerra published additional Instagram posts about the war on Monday, which says, “At the end of the day, I’d rather be excluded for who I include, than be included for who I exclude.”

The 33-year old actress then added in a separate post: “Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.”

Barrerra played character Samantha Carpenter in this year’s 2023 film, “Scream VI” and 2022’s “Scream,” with Jenna Ortega, and the series’ original stars, Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell.

Those films did remarkably well, paving what appeared to be a path to a successful career in Hollywood for the Latina looker.

Barrerra’s first Scream film earned $137.7 million globally, while her second grossed a whopping $168.9 million worldwide.

Barrera was born on America’s Independence Day in 1990 in Monterrey, Mexico. She attended the American School Foundation of Monterrey and then studied musical theater at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

The Mexican native actress rose quickly as a telenovela soap opera actress in her home country, also becoming known for performing in several films there such as “Siempre tuya Acapulco” (2013), “Tanto Amor” (2015-2016) and the 2017 Netflix Series “Club de Cuervos.”

In the United States she is best known for her roles in the “Scream” horror series and for starring in the Starz series, “Vida” (2018-2020) and the 2021 musical film, “In the Heights.”

In 2022, she starred in another Netflix series, “Keep Breathing,” and the film musical, “Carmen.”

The Mexican-American star was recently cast to play the role of “Maya” in the current film production of “The Collaboration” starring Paul Bettany and Jeremy Pope, featuring Jean-Michael Basquiat as Andy Warhol.

The movie is a cinematic version of the ongoing Broadway stage play. There is no current information about the actresses’ fate in that production.
