Mexican Cheese Puffs

These Mexican-style cheese puffs make the perfect appetizer for end-of-the-year gatherings. In only 20 minutes you can make this delicious treat filled with flavor.

Serving: About 2 dozen appetizers.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup buttermilk baking mix
  • 3 tbsp margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp chopped green chilies
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

 

Directions:

Heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix baking mix, margarine, egg, and chilies. Stir in cheese.

In a greased cookie sheet, make rounded teaspoonfuls of dough. Place about 1 inch apart.

Bake until golden, 10 to 12 minutes.

 

Sausage cheese puffs

Substitute ¼ cup finely crumbled uncooked pork sausage for the margarine. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
