Different personalities from sports, culture, politics, and the Latino community in Miami welcomed to the city the latest addition to its Major League Soccer team Inter Miami C.F.: Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi.

Messi's historic presentation took place this Sunday at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. It was followed by 3.5 billion people worldwide after Inter Mami shared the event on its social media, according to the club's data.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and many other personalities recorded a video to welcome Messi to the madness of the South Florida team's fans. In the video, the mayor is seen inviting Messi to City Hall to "have his first Cuban coffee," a signature of Miami and its Cuban heritage.

Last month, the Miami Mayor became the first Hispanic to announce his bid for the U.S. presidency in the upcoming 2024 election.

World-class singers, including Maluma, Marc Anthony, J. Balvin, Gloria, Emilio Estefan, and Ricardo Motaner, as well as U.S. professional athletes such as Tom Brady, Manu Ginóbili, and Stephen Curry also welcomed Messi to the United States.

"I want to thank all the people in Miami for this welcome, this affection since I arrived here. I am very excited to be with you. I want to thank Jose (Mas), Jorge (Mas), and David (Beckham) for making everything easy, for making us feel at home,” Messi said.

“I really want to start training, competing, I really want to win and for this club to keep growing. I hope that you will continue to support us throughout the tournament.

"Personally, I believe that my teammates and I are going to give everything to build this project and I am very happy to have chosen this city, to have chosen this project and I have no doubt that we are going to have a great time and we are going to experience very nice things,” the world champion added.
